Does anyone know what the spec of the wall wart PSU for these Roland things is, including what the polarity of the socket is? I have one on the bench where it won`t work from the external PSU, which the one the guy is using is not the Roland one. I`m not sure if it is the right spec.

I use standard wallwarts like 9V 500mA (stab.) and they work fine. Don´t remember but I think the ring (outside) got the + and inside is (-). But I am really not sure about this. I sometimes didn´t remember so I tried it out for a second or 2. If the LED´s don´t light up you´re wrong. That method never killed one of my TBs.But the wallwart does good work on my TBs since eraly 90s...

PS. I did a lot of acid and live acts...

A friend of mine had the same problem.

I change one part , I think it Q44 (the one that looks like a 78xx). Then the TB continued working with wall wart .

If you need schematics, let me know.

Hi Jürgen

Do you have idea if there is a source for those 303 clone kits. I would like to build one. How much does the kit costed?

chrissugar

You can find more information about that kit on

www.acidcode.de , or on my page http://www.mutekki.com/forum/phpBB2/index.php

but that kit discontinued. The PCB costs around 100 EUR and the rest probably 250 EUR and it sounds great.

Here´s a schematic of the TB power part :

Is Q44 the dark green looking thing ? The 2SB647 ?[/quote]

yes.

I have built the oakley 303 mentioned above, and it is really impressive (as all oakley stuff).

It is sold as a kit, just the PCB and hard to find parts. You should also buy his tbDAC if you want to control it via MIDI (a really nice midi-cv converter designed to be used with his 303 clone).

Not to get off topic here, but since we're talking vintage Roland boxes, does anybody know where to find the switches for TR-808 keypads? There was a guy on eBay selling these for a while, but I think he sold through what he had. His kits had blue LED's which I thought was a bit ugly, but I could really use a couple of those. #4 is almost gone on my box.
As for 303 emulation, I have the old MC202 which does a decent job. The filters are different than the 303 though.

p.s. Hello everybody

From memory ( I haven't worked on one in a few months) the 808 just uses tact switches that you can get just about anywhere, and they clip under the coloured switch tops. The tough ones to get are the two large rubber plunger type switches as in the start/stop button.

I`ve just fitted a blue LED switch panel to the TB 303 I`ve been working on. This is a link to the instructions:

Jürgen,

What processor is used in that Acid Code 303 clone. I have a real 303, but I have always dreamed of making a 303 sequencer for controlling other stuff. If this guy refuses to make more boards maybe his software and schematic can be ripped to make one from scratch. The only thing that makes a 303 un-clonable is the CPU section. I'd buy one of the boards if they became available. I didn't even hear about it until it was discontinued.

Thanks!

Mark
