Hey guys good morning. A friend of mine acquired a teac 2300sd and I was wondering if any of you have an opinion on this piece. I've never calibrated a tape machine before so if this thing is worth working on it will be my first. He says when he presses the tape closer to the read head that the output becomes about what he thinks it should be.

Clean the head (Q-tip and strong vodka), then examine for wear. Most of these machines will have worn heads. It's not really a project for someone born after tape went out of style.

Thanks PRR

I enjoy walking into the past and learning how things worked.

It's interesting how in the past you had to understand mechanics a bit
