There really are plenty out there for now, lots of people have stocked up.  I can't address where pricing will go, inevitably up.  Grab now for future expectation.

we stocked up 2252's and yes the 4301. I do like that but was more wondering of the equivalent from alternate venders like TI/burr brown or analog devices.

It is extremely unlikely that a second source would pop up for these when THAT corp doesn't even find it worth leaving the production lines turned on. One obscure long shot is a pirate rip-off but again who would they sell to?

There is nothing special about the 2252 circuitry that would require special process technology (like the VCAs) but it is just more cost effective to build this sub-circuit into a complete single IC solution.

But you don't get all the options or flexibility there with analog engines, if I just want to make a rms vumeter (who would?) but still, for some multichannel processing that someone may want seems odd to have one analog engine and other VCA, or the spare RMS detector inside the analog engine or the spare VCA inside the analog engine. One example would be people who uses multiple VCAs in parallel for lower noise (I don't know if it's useful at all) or other options that came to mind. Just saying, it isn't nice when ICs of ay type goes out of market, MAT02 or LM394 are some cases.

I think Cool Audio (= Behringer):
http://www.coolaudio.com/
could jump in as you already can buy a V2181L (= THAT2181 VCA):
http://www.coolaudio.com/products.html#V2181L
from them or even a V2153 (= Bbe NJM2153 Sonic Maximizer):

Thanks for that! wavefront is alive! hurra for ADAT! and cheep, how bad can be a ADAT encoder/decoder using a good external clock, not the internal of course...

Minimum order of $2000 US!

I saw that after reading a bit... too bad, 10 of each wasn't that bad at the cheap price, with a couple of friends easy to get, but U$2K? WTF! saad...

Right?  Maybe Mouser or Digikey will start stocking them.

small bear electronics is already doing business with them, so no real problem:

Looking at the parts offered, it looks like they may be re-selling excess inventory that had been piling up at assembly houses in China, and they want to sell to OEMs who need those parts, not the hobbyist.

Unless you absolutely need these parts, you're better off with a main-line distributor like Avnet, DigiKey or Mouser.
