Thatcorp 2252 RMS Chip End of Life!

I haven't seen it posted here anywhere (doesn't mean it hasn't been), and couldn't find it using search, but Thatcorp announced the End Of Life of the 2252 RMS detector chip.

Last time buys were suggested to have been made in December of 2013. WTF? I guess everything has moved to DSP or their "analog engines".

Oh well; guess I can always make a discrete one if I really need it. (still have a couple around here somewhere).

Existing customers are encouraged to schedule a last time buy before 12/06/13. For new customers, we offer RMS-level detectors whose performance is nearly identical to the 2252 as part of our popular Analog Engine® series. For low-voltage applications, please consider the 4315 or 4320. For high-voltage applications, we recommend the 4305. Please contact our sales department for more information.

I think there was a 3-4 month lead on that announcement.  Still, if you weren't looking....
I understand the plant making the specific part for THAT was the issue with that one discontinuing.
