Seems like most or Europe is covered in snow by now. Even in sunny Norfolk we had about five inches yesterday evening. In the afternoon we drove the 20 miles into Norwich to go to the theatre. Although it had been snowing on and off, the roads were clear. When we left the theatre at 10 pm it was snowing steadily and it soon became clear it had been doing so for most of the time we were watching Mathew Bourne's ballet Cinderalla. There was very little traffic but what there was was creeping along at about 20 miles an hour if that. Once we left the city the snow thickened and the tragic slowed even more. We crawled the next 15 miles at about 15 miles ah hour until the last car in front of us turned off. We were then able to speed up to a heady 30 miles an hour in our Ford Edge 4WD and soon got home safely.
This morning the car is covered in snow and it is still slowing. With its usual eye for a headline, the UK press has christened this snow from Siberia as The Beast from The East.
Reminds me a little of 1963.
Cheers
