"how different is the Sontec from the Manley massive passive, sound wise and layout- construction wise ?"

They have almost nothing in common, one is active the other passive, one use opamps as filters, the other inductors and capacitors, one is DC coupled the other has capacitors and transformers in the signal chain.

Good news mate.....

its a monster project but I'm sure it will be the most awesome of EQs.

Did you use Panasonic HFS caps for the PSU bypassing as Fred recommends?

Cheers Tom

Fred mentions the Panasonic HFS series in his 992 documentation....I'm sure its not an issue.

I would love to hear that comparison when the EQ's done...maybe you could make some small audio files??

How broad is the shelving? Do you have a rough idea of its shape?

Tom

Top notch, or shelf, whichever you prefer! Really great work. I can't wait to see it done.

I was wondering.... how is this thing inside??

This is the input opamp for Sontec MEP250... :)

cheers!

Are there holes on the PCB for the feedback compensation cap?
Nope, but they're easily soldered on the solder side in parallel with the feedback resistor.

Don´t forget you can use the IC DIP holes to do so if you´re using discrete opamps...

cheers!
Fabio

Hi Fabio, do you have that thing or you are just wondering?
I hope you will give me the right answer.
