heat sink: Tip/HeatSink-2.jpg this is a coke bottle top....

iron holder: Tool/IronStand.jpg

Tip/SMD-4.jpg {SMD converter}

{EDIT: hot-links removed per sijosae's explicit request; all are listed in his Gallery and I left enough clues to find them. -PRR}

I doubt there's enough mass in a coke bottle top to do much heat sinking, but the others are pretty cool. Where did you find these?

i was cruising around on a headphone diy site......and stumbled upon his site...he's from korea...

pretty cool ideas .... he thinks outside of the box.....

if you look at some of his diy circuit work...it's so clean and smartly done...

:shock: WOW :shock:
This guy is incredible!
there are 4(!) other lowcost/zerocost SMD-DIP adapter methods, a mini-hotplate for etching (that in fact is a homeetched pcb!) and even DIY tube connectors out of old DSUB connectors...
...the OpAmp Tester is a pretty small tool, should take 5 minutes to veroboard...

lots of cool ideas...

You can easily piggyback a batch of them at zero cost. Should give alot of surface if spreaded a bit!

What's the red goo that he's etching in? I've never seen anything like that before. It doesn't look like FeCl, and I think the persulfates are clear, no?

Is that a LED to make a cold tube glow for "warm" sound ? :twisted:

yeah.. i spotted that one too :wink:
that reminds me those ugly dbx boxes with orange (warm) leds all around their tubes :green:

although it's not a new trick it's still nice to see guys like this putting common sense into innovation and putting it out for many to see. I'm sick of all the asshats that keep the little secrets to themselves.

I had an interviewee today.. young kid, very green and fresh out of school. Didn't do very good on the tests but at least had a fresh spirit and was truly interested in learning so I took a few minutes after the interview and gave him some tips on soldering technique and showed him some soldering tricks that a cool old technician showed me back in the day.

He didn't get the job but I tried to at least show him something that will help him in the future because you never know, I might be helping the next great designer of the future.
