I was at the Hyde St studio up in San Francisco during AES, and I noticed in their rack that they had a DIY LA2A. I went over to inspect it and noticed that they even put a Teletronix logo on it. Then I noticed the label read LA-2! I had herd of these boxes but had never seen one. I think there were less than a hundred ever made. It was like I had just seen Bigfoot or the Lockness Monster.

I just cracked me up how crapy it looked, the knobs were all crunched toward the middle, and totally reminded me of peoples DIY LA2A's that aren't painted and are just machined by hand.

They also had a real Fairchild 670, a Mercury Fairchild 660, and one of those Esoteric Audio Research "fairchild" compressors. I think someone is hoarding.
