U-87 Capsule re-skin?

Honestly, if I were you, i'd buy new original capsule. Re-skinned wil never sound like the original.

Is your U87 a vintage one? Meaning 1968-86 era.

... but still much closer to the original than the currently produced (and much more expensive) new replacement capsules. A "new" (non-original) capsule will also considerably lower the resale value of your U-87.

Funny, my original capsule and a new one from 2009 sounded exactly the same, after the vintage one was cleaned.

I disagree with the re-sale value, Neumann U87 with original Neumann parts are considered to be more expensive than the modded or ones with re-skinned capsules.

I have no idea why the re-skinned capsules sound different than the ones made in Neumann Berlin. But they do, not for better or worse, just different. Try them once and you'll know.
