Hey Jesse,  yeah its Dan  ;),

this project aborted cause it need a DC-DC converter custom on board, wich is not very practical,

unless someone comes with a part somewhere that might ressurect this thread, but for now , it was just an experiment ,
Best,
Dan,

Dan,

i mean dan sorry... hard to keep track of these user names. lol

could AMI be interested in creating such part

but the main matter is that producing this board will conflict with the Rule of not Re-creating somthing that is a current production ,

so it will have to wait for a while,  because it would not be a vintage microphone anymore  ;)

best,
Dan,

true if it were to be identical but not if we were to put our own take on it...

It could definitely be improved / changed for instance by not implementing the daughter board.

hi guys,

Dany did you want to send me the spec's to this DC-DC converter and i'll have my wizz kid to look at, hes pretty good with all that.

regards

Spence.

you sure can ask,  on the bottom of the schemo you have the required inductance,
you can check a picture of the AI mic on the web that will give you an idea of the size of it ,
Best,
DAn,

A little off topic. But instead of the U87AI how about a KM series mic? The problem as I see it is the capsule but I'm sure there is a donor out there to be found!

The MXL 603/604s/etc. is suited to these types of mods. The capsule is already a pseudo knock-off of the KM series. For something much closer in sound (from what I've read) you could have the MXL capsule modified by Samar Audio or Joly. Fitting a transformer in those mics is a whole different dilema...

I think JoeMeek has a SDC with a transformer already in it. It might make a good donor/modding platform.
