I reaplced the output transformer in my Ampex 350.

Does the old UTC- HA-133 Transformer have any value? It needs to be rewound... on at least the primary

good for a door stop or as a sinker for lake trout in August,

on a serious note, those have inexpensive steel lams, the cans are nice if you want to stuff a DIY transformer in there, sometimes they go for 20 bucks on evilbay, sometimes 300,

a newer version will be more reliable, rewinding will make it hard to sell,

they are fun to take apart,  :D

just some Ampex trivia from Doc Hoyer>

"WHEN AMPEX came out with the 351, they really got CHEAP and used a smaller PUSH-PULL OPT with a tertiary FB winding,
I never did find out who made that  PUSH-PULL OUTPUT coil for AMPEX, but I did later LEARN that AMPEX went to the CHEAPEST SUPPLIER that they could find. They were still HIGH-PRICED DAMNED GOOD MACHINES, and I own three 351's, and one 601-2P

I forgot to tell you I have the Central Transformer Company and TRIAD  SE-OPT'S units that AMPEX also used. PEERLESS ALSO MADE ONE FOR AMPEX "

Ampex 400A used an HA-133 output transformer, with a 6C5 triode output stage.

Did they use the same output transformer on the 350 which has a 6F6 pentode stage ? Isn't the plate current of the 6F6 stage exceeding the 8mA rating of the HA-133 ?
