Very Flat Guitar pickup with magnetic base to be placed on everything metal... how would you design it ?

I just saw the most recent andrew huang video where he shows his new guitar a : Orbit Baritone - Verso Musical instruments
With freely movable pickup-system... which blew my mind.

Would it make sense to try to build such pickups ?
And how and where would you start ?

hype and more hype. so if the guitar has a bit of steel on the front the pu's can be moved any place you want them the magnet will hold them in place, i have a pu coil winding machine that i built a few years ago.
for forum members i will wind coils at cost plus postage ( uk only ) just let me know what you want, send me a sketch and specs number of turns etc. etc. i can wind 44 awg wire easily enough.
