Vintage UREI 1176 Problems...

Hello,

I have a vintage UREI 1176 Rev G. I'm unfortunately having some issues. When I press the GR button the meter completely pegs. Also, the limiter/compressor mode does not function at all. The unit does pass audio just fine. I've tried adjusting the internal pot and GR tracking pot (according to manual), and neither will do anything. Needless to say, I'm frustrated.  :'(

Does anyone have any ideas that might help?

Best thing start checking some voltages

Here is  a schematic with reference voltages around the transistors

If the compressor is passing signal but not compressing, there might be something wrong in the side chain section

As always with old equipment, check carefully for missing broken wires or cold solderings
