Hey guys,

i started a little project for my living room. I thought it would be cool to have a little box with VU- and PPM-LED meters. Booth from the datasheet for the LM3916 (Figure 21, 22, 24).

http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm3916.pdf

It shows -40dB to +3dB with 19 LEDs. I built the PPM version before and it works fine. I lowered the LED current though.

Then i found a phase correlation meter project.

Does anyone have a suggestion what meter to use for this project? Centre zero coils are hard to get and i think it would be cool to use LEDs for this one too. I saw a nice little circuit on the Lm3914 datasheet (Figure 16) but i´m not exactly sure if it works.

Otherwise two cascaded LM3914 with 70mv steps and 1,4V full scale should work i think?

thanks and merry christmas to all

Elliot's Fig 5 driving a simple LM3914 is all you need.  No need for centre-zero.
