what arrived? just the schematic or the unit as well?
This is very similar to the Altec 436 Limiter, which i reckon is a nice unit. As far as vari-mu limiters go in is simple and clean, which fits my "less is more" policy.
Both arrived. I just got the schem today. I don't know much about them. I'm trying to figure out if they're worth keeping. I put them in the Black Market to see if any nice trades came up. I have a lot to contend with on my bench. None is tube. I'm not sure what to do for a power supply. I don't trust myself to work with 300VDC!
Is there any real advantage to a tube rectifier PSU? There is a high voltage SS regulator out there... Let me check my parts box, I'll be right back...
i think the only real advantage is that it will create a kind of 'soft start' ie it will not start putting out voltage till the heater has warmed up, and the voltage has normally sorted itelf out by then.
guitar amp people go on about compression when the rectifier is pushed abit too far as well, but this probally isnt a consideration for powering the compressor circuit!
Go to high end audio.
Then to preamplifiers.
Towards the bottom you'll find a preassembled solution for $70 shipped.[/quote]
Holy ****! Where did you find that!? I've been looking for something like that for awhile. I was just about to order some parts to make my own (which is almost the same price as that kit). THANK YOU!
Hey man, I got some cool schematics on how to convert those Quad Eight line cards to mic pre's too. PM me if interested.
