What gloss for powder coat?

I've been thinking about gloss values for powder coat and is there an optimal value for studio gear? Some high gloss 80+ ones look nice, but I've also been in dimly lit studios where the spot lights can sometimes give too much glare off shiny gear. How much gloss is too much, if there is such a thing?

sounds subjective and could vary with application, some is good too much maybe not.

Can you get samples to mess with?

Over here, we don't have much choice (which is a good thing IMO): glossy, satin or matte. I always choose satin.

Some of the places do gloss on a 0-100 scale, in increments of 10-20. So maybe a 60 would be a good middle of the road satin.

I can get samples but think they are small, like 1 inch squares. Certainly better than nothing but not great to extrapolate for 19" rackmount gear.

Do RAL colors come in gloss levels? The places that had those didn't specify anything.
