like TI lists the tl071 as

does anyone know what A, C, P, I, D mean?

I must be blind as a bat or just dumb because I can't seem to find it anywhere on their site...
 
Very simple you must look at the vendors datasheet.
Quick answer usually Temp specs like industrial or commerical
temp ranges. On op amps the offset voltage may be tighter on certian models. Look at the logo on the chip. Figure out the vendor. Look at the data sheet. Skim it again because it is hidden in there.
