Where in the UK can I get pins/sockets for MELCOR`s & 25

Hi folks

I know this has come up before. I spent an hour the other day at my local RS trade counter trying to find a pin & socket combination that went together nicely.

Has anyone got a known "snug fitting" combination that they can supply the part numbers for that is from a UK source?

Hi Rob, is this for original boards, Fabio project, SCA, other?

For Fabio's boards/opamp boards, he gave me:

Mil-max# 0344-2-19-01-3427100
PIN RECPT .037/.047 DIA 0344 SER
these are tin over nickel

PC PIN .040 DIA 3103-2 SERIES

These are here and fit Canil 'AudProI/Mel' boards & opamp boards nicely (and each other). Don't think they're long enough for upside-down opamp mount, if that's what you wanted, but there's longer pins on the link. I'm in U.S. so can't help with source.

Try Farnell part n. 149319, these are what Kev suggested some time ago, I'm going to buy these too.
I haven't been able to find anything on the rs catalog.

Thos esockets look like the ones for the job. What are you going to use for pins ? Does anyone know if 1mm veropins fit?

I bought some of these pins : 433 860

Sockets : 434 712

I have not actually used them yet :sad: but they look good.

sorry,but those rs socket`s,are too large for fabio`s board`s.
i know it cause i bought them.they don`t fit tommytones board`s for the fred forssell compressor.
if you want my opinion, why us european,don`t go in a group order for the above?

Group order not a bad idea, also for quantity... they were spendy here in US. Dig, Newark, and Allied all carry milmax

If you're looking for replacement, the actual hole size on PCB is .067 inch for receptacles (or so) which is 1.70mm. OPamp holes are +.040 (these pins are .040) inch. That's +1.016mm. The pins are .040inch on both mount and receptacle ends.

saw farnell had newark-in-one service... Newark has Milmax, but not these. A couple others spec'd close (.063 socket base 295series, but takes smaller pins)... i just did quick fly-by.

Those sockets are specified as 2.3mm outside diameter. The boards I made from Fabios PDF`s, seem to have those pads with at least a 2mm hole. Is it not possible just to drill the holes out a bit so they do fit?

I can confirm that the pins & sockets from RS that Peter suggested do work together quite nicely. They do fit Fabios boards well if you enlarge the holes with a 2mm drill.

today i got in the mail, millmax socket`s 0344-2-19-01-34-27-10-0.
guess what:those pins from rs,fit just fine in these socket`s,and are much longer than millmax`s pin`s.
soon i get them soldered,i`ll send pics.
