Hi,
Maybe a stupid idea, but i would find more sexy to put tubes of my d-la2a and sta levels outside the box, panel mounted on the rear panels... Is there a problem, in term of performances, if i solder wires from pcbs to panel tube sockets ?
Thanks

Should be no problem, and it would allow you to hand wire the filaments as well if using AC.

Sorry, i do not understand what you mean "to hand wire the filaments as well if using AC. "

That's bad idea because the wires from the pcb to the tubes will be too long.

The rear panel is almost touching the pcb..

Look at early "Tweed" Fenders. Parts were on a board. Sockets were on rear (actually bottom) panel. Wires between.

When I copied a Champ that way, yes I did have trouble with "long wire layout". It squealed at high tone settings. Pushing a pencil at the treble wires changed the squeal, pushing them around got it to stop.

Anything is better than putting sockets on PCB. The tube heat cooks the PCB (see any old Dynaco). Tall parts on PCB is mechanically dubious. You can't wire AC heaters properly.

ok so if i take good wires, maybe shielded, it would be a good idea to put all tubes on the rear panel, and not on the pcb...? I am really hesitate between standard populating and this pcb/p2p strange mix..

and what if the pcb is screwed to the rear panel, instead of bottom, and wires for tubes directly from the back of the pcb...short wire enough i think...?

It's not a stupid idea. It is more sexy. Also more work (usually).

Figure out what you want to do and do it.

Unless I have misunderstood something, isn't this the way Marshall Plexis are set? An aluminium chassis with tubes and transformers outside and the parts inside......am I missing something? :)

Cheers
Sono
