I started on a Tele/Tab U374a limiter pair last night. I went through them and recapped, put a sine wave through it and it certainly does squash the sound like it is supposed to. There are 4 other variable resistors/pots that are on the pcbs. I was thinking that these may control some other aspects of the limiter that are typically used on other units - i.e. attack/release, ratio, makeup. These were originally used at talkback amps so there was probably not much needed in the way of adjustment. I'm attaching a copy of the schematic with the variable resistors circled. Maybe someone can help me figure out what these resistors are controlling.
When I turned the pots while the scope was hooked up, I couldn't see much of a change - the two pots that changed the signal the most were the 22k on board #4 (it reduced the waveform and it slowly, slowly climbed back up) and the 10k on board #3 (this seemed to control the overall level but was not highly adjustable).
Was wondering if any of these pots would be worth bringing to the front of the unit and using them as user adjustments.
Also, any idea where I could insert a gain reduction meter?
Thanks in advance
Any help would be much appreciated.
