WTB : 2# EL503

prices on these are insane , and  hard to find .
got a 2x12" Combo from Hohner which uses these . somewhere along it´s lifespan someone must have gotten tired of unavailability and put in a  pair of EL34 .

As long as they´re functional i wouldn´t mind  condition .
would like to know how it works/sounds with EL503 and go from there .

(Would be a shame not to put all those mustard caps in the preamp to good use . )

I used to have a Davoli Lied Super Effect amp head that used those. There was a weird sort of makeshift spark gap thing on the endcaps that would make a little arc if you drove it too hard.

I have no doubt it would have sounded an awful lot better with EL34s in it.


(EDIT: turns out maybe they were 504s, but here's a pic I found of that spark gap thingy 🙂 )

Don´t know if those are EL504´s but defintely no EL503 .
EL503 do have magnavol 9 pin socket and don´t have endcaps .

They were only built in the late 60ies right before silicium took over  .
40 Watts output
