Whoo, more 5533 samples than I've seen so far
, I just ran into just a few.(It's indeed not a practical approach to go for this type)

Can you elaborate on the differences between those and the current versions.Vintage 5534/2s, hand crafted by Southampton virgins from solid BS, have much better clarity & definition bla bla than lesser devices but I only have hard evidence on noise performance.
Does it boil down to En/In or is it more subtle.

This Millenium, I'm only a pseudo speaker, microphone & electronics guru. But in my previous life, I was a true DBLT guru with some 2 decades of using DBLTs for design.
I confess to not having carried out DBLTs between 1980s Philips/Mullard & 1990s Signetics/TI so my 'clarity & definition bla bla' probably just show my prejudices.
Even the best ears (and I've tested some of the very best) are prejudiced. One member of my panel, who could consistently tell EL34 amps from KT66 amps, believed that Mullard (Philips UK) valves from Blackburn were superior to other brands. I've tested the first proposition but, not having tested the second .. will take it with a pinch of salt.
Having said that, I've found that first impressions (of true Golden Pinnae) are important.
BTW, you NEVER tell the person tested what he is listening to, whether its 3 speakers, different circuits, phase etc. Your DBLT panel is an instrument and you have to regularly check its accuracy and calibration.
