Any reasons not to use a SS diode instead of a 6AL5 in a sidechain of an RS124-type compressor?

I have a couple NOS 6AL5, but just realized I don't have a 7-pin socket handy for it...

Why not just use high-voltage diodes instead?

or... is there a tube I can buy in a 9-pin package that will do the same job?

It's been years since I fiddled with a 6AL5 and I already drilled and installed a 9-pin socket..

Silly of me, I know.

I suppose I could use a couple of diodes, given that the sidechain is threshold-dependent, so who cares about the 0.6V drop, and there is the 33K resistor in series, so the internal resistance of the 6AL5 would not have made much of a difference anyway.

So either I seal up the extra hole I made (DAMMIT), or I suppose I could use it to put a 6386 in there (I have a couple) as an 'alternative' tube to pick between the two, or maybe to put another 6BC8 in parallel..

Or I could get a 7-pin socket and adapt the hole :(

Just in case.. Does anyone here have one in Northern Europe to sell?

yep.. have you got the shield for that?

Can you please give me the measurement from screw-hole to screw-hole?

I need to check if it will fit in the hole or if I need to do something else
