Joking aside, I haven't seen the circuit of the VP28 so can't really comment. I suspect it's main use is as a mic pre with a fairly substantial gain, but with a line input tacked on the front as an accessory, yes?
It's about the context (thread title is a tad misleading). skal is only looking for 24dB gain - that's a line amp in my book, it seems a bit of a waste to pad a mic pre with whatever amount of gain the VP28 has to offer, just to convert it to a dedicated line input, no?
