Try FreeCad. As it says, its free and very very good! Quite a bit of tutorial VDOs also on YouTube
>> I use SolidWorks here-at-home myself!!! It was $7,600!!! OUCH!!!

Maybe you could send me your Fusion files??? I have found that "Parasolid" files translate extremely well between CAD programs. They output as -- .x_b (binary) and as .x_t (ASCII) -- files. Otherwise, it's usually either IGS/IGES or STP/STEP files.

I used to work with Altium for schematic and PCB design and the mechanical designer in the office was on SolidWorks.
Both these softwares are in the 10K$ scale, but now that I am retired, I still do projects for fun and was missing Altium dearly and never used any CAD for mechanical design before.
This friend tried FreeCad and found it very capable, and it is used by many engineers and scientists, and myself, I found that KiCad for schema/PCB is very good.
But some features are missing or ackwards to use, so I understand why these softwares are not used in a pro environment, but for basement/kitchen engineers these are tremendous tools! And for free!
