I'm thinking of offering a microphone body for DIY based on the SYT5. What changes would you make if you could?
This is probably a good thing acoustically, but unfortunately it makes the mic pretty ugly. The one thing the Behringer has I like is the side frame of the headbasket isnt parrallel , might help defuse any reflections more effectively .
What do you mean by ridges on the bottom of the head basket? The head basket assembly on the SYT5 I have is completely flatAs for the looks, I don't like the grooves on the bottom thing that screws on, no idea what's called. It's too shiny, more mat would be nice.
Acoustically it should not have the ridges on the bottom of the headbasket(see the image), and the sleeve should have less mass.
Awesome in that case, the one i had wasn't. Not sure if the ridge is the right term, like here you see how the ring of the headbasket goes above the platform to which the capsule holder is screwed to, making a 90° wall. What do you mean by ridges on the bottom of the head basket? oh that's an easy fix, i was going to redo how the whole thing went together anywayAwesome in that case, the one i had wasn't.
