I haven't been around for a couple weeks, I kinda had to take a vacation from the message boards.

Anyways I am still working on my G9 kinda thing where I am using a Cinemag 9955T variable impedance transformer on the input. My problem is that the 9955T has a balanced secondary. Is there any way to run the secondaries unbalanced without messing with the impedance of the primaries? Or do I need to buy another transformer to go from the balanced secondaries on the 9955T to the grid of my first gain stage?

The 9955T primaries are 9.1k

and here is the hookup diagram

Just do it. Ignore the center-tap, ground one end, other end to the grid. On a 9K winding it won't make a big difference.

That is a single coil xfmr, so there is no humbucking to worry about.

Neat article on the Cinemag site on the Quad Eight!
