Sounds like a big load of abbba hubba to me..........I mean, the time and the skill required to reverse that piece would be equivalent to design & build your own from scratch based on the filter encyclopedia cookbooks and a copy of the 1962 Radiotron Designer's Handbook & The tube amp book(not to mention all the available source of patents on the net for idea and inspiration of course :shock: :green: ).

I just can't see the intention of cloning that thing, for profit?(smart enough to clone but stupid enough to sell to the whole world?) or for self use? If he or she knows enough to reverse that piece, I am pretty certain they wouldn't bother clonning that thing.

Perhaps the person mentioned the clone was refering to prototype produced in china, as they might be moving their manufacturing to?

If Deadringer made a clone it would be called the Ultra Passive, (except the only passive part would be the knobs and case), with Ultra Low Noise Passive surface mount op-amps, slots in the front to show the glow of the passive Vacuum tubes (with LED backlighting) and it would be in a 1RU case for $199.00.

Regretfully i didn't read the postings about copyrights of schematics and pcb layouts...

if i:
a) copy the pcb layout 1:1
b) write down the schematic and make a new pcb layout
c) publish diy files for the mp
d) just think about copying those thing
e) _eve_ reads this posting (i bet she will)

(basically i don't want to earn money with that)

If Deadringer will copy this into a 1RU they will probably use 3 ganged consentrics or digital controlled with one dial!

A couple of weeks ago I had a behringer in for service that stated to have a discrete input stage, never found any discrete transistors in there! but I guess that discrete for them is when they use any kind of discrete components?
