As many of you know, i have had shitloads of problems with one of my preamp builds. It has become my personal nemesis, and i am now 100% determined to defeat this "beast"...lol.

I am slowly getting closer to a working build. I will try to post some pics soon. (So you can see that i have actually built something, somewhat resembling a preamp..:green: )

I still have one problem, that has me stumped. So i was hoping that someone could have an idea where to start looking.

The only problem left with my api312/neve1272 combo is:

As soon as i enable the relay for the pad on the api312s i get a loud hum
that seems to be related to toroid radiation. But only with dynamic mics.
This also happens on the other relays, but not as much as with the pad.

A couple of weeks ago my +5v regulator decided to crap out, and the 5v relays got about +29v for a couple of seconds.
They still switch between the two states, but could they have been damaged otherwise somehow?

What else could it be?
Perhaps something to do with the fact that my psu has the rails loaded differently?

Im also thinking of trying a separate +5v supply to see if it will solve my problems.

Thanks for your patience with me btw!
/J
