PULTEC P2P DB LOSS
« on: June 04, 2009, 08:25:46 AM »
hi there guys i finished a pultec point to point following recproaudio's design...it sounds amazing especially on the low end...i used all sowter stuff...i am testing the unit today but with a 1khz 0db tone i am getting an output of -5db when the eq is not in....is there something i missed or need to check out...or is it the norm with the sowter transformers to have a -5db drop?

thanks

If i'm correct, Cayacosta bypasses only filter section, so you shouldn't loose signal. And it doesn't matter what transformers you use if they are always in. Filter section by itself have some signal loss, so you should get more signal when it's bypassed (if bypass doesn't "correct" for this).
Is maybe your bypass switch wired wrong?

change 1K Ohm resistor at sw3b to 10K Ohms

information from gyraf' s web

EDIT : i am aware of circuit differences but gyraf's edit, may lead you to solve your problem. let me know, as i am starting on this P2P EQ soon.
