So I was trying to dig up the threads on getting more gain from the 1176.

I accidently posting to the "black market" so I am moving the thread here.

Scenaria pointed me toward the 3 methods, I am just curious which method folks are recomending. Or if there are any others.

Hi thedug,

It can be done in the output amp feedback chain, but there are some different circuits around the years, so which serial number have you on this particular 1176, and how much gain do you need ??

It is the gyraf diy dealio.

I believe that is Rev F.

The gain is just a little weaker than I remember an 1176.

thedug,

Ok, you have a Gyraf 1176, as Scenaria say in the older posting, it is the R33 you shall play with if you whant to change the gain, so try to change the 11k R33 resitor to 10k, 8,2. 5,6k, 4,7k ......... and check if you can find the gain you want.

I thought that could cause problems and since I don't have a scope I didn't want to run the risk.

doug!

you really need to save up and get a cheapie scope!!

I mean you can get a decent one for $20-$40 on ebay...

I think the transformer is actually 2:1. It is setup as a step down. Right?

Steve: I actually have a scope, but I need to learn how to use it. :p
