Don't ever buy NTE. Their specs are all over the place and you never know what you are getting , gave up on that crap in the 70's. Just about any audio fixit forum will tell you the same.

That is why I don't bother trying to use a substitution guide. I just look at it being equal or greater collector to emitter voltage break over and collector current , check its pin out to see if its the same and call it good. I also change the part in the other channel so it gains the same.it looks to me that the Voltage of 2sc1518 2sc1509 are too low... Vcb and Vce for the original are 120V. No?
What I find interesting in his remarks is that the better manufacturer are used on a rebranded NTE transistors.That's pretty much all the only local rat shack sells here...lol
