making black screws? (old link?)

to preface: I am having the hardest time finding black screws.

I remember seeing a webpage which I believe was made by a member here (I thought it was franks nrg site, but I can't seem to find it there) showing silver-colored screws being dipped in a (clear?) liquid and turning black.  I think the liquid had a name in German, which is probably why I don't know what it was. Does anyone here know what I'm talking about, or did I dream this?  Anyone know how I can take plain steel screws and turn them black?

Search is your friend...

That could be "gun blueing".  It's a clear-ish liquid that turns any steel quite a bit more black than blue.
