looks like a neg feedback vol control like a tele v76, so you should be able to leave it out,
it just returns signal to the front end to lower the gain,

What could be the idea behind the voltage divider R91/R92? (27K/15K)
You loose almost 10 dB here! We don't want to waste our input signal, do we?

I'm afraid I don't agree with you.
The gain is determined by the ratio of R95 (10K) and the resistance of R100..105 or R109..112 on the gain switch.
This has nothing to do with R91/R92.
Impedance on the base of Q27 is fairly high.
