Source for capsule mounts
« on: February 25, 2013, 06:35:17 AM »
I am desperately looking for some 32 or 34 mm capsule mounts.
At the moment I have some nice capsules here that I would like to use, but unfortunately no mounts...
Strange that there are a lot of companies selling capsules, but no mounts!
Any help is highly appreciated!

I know it not in your country of origin, nor is it in mine, but Canadian Audio Distributors are a source for Peluso 34mm and 32mm saddles and posts.

Here is that page:

Dave at Advanced Audio should have mounts as well. I hope that helps.

Old thread but couldn't these generic anti-vibration rubber mounts from ebay used as posts? You can easily 3D print the saddles.

Tom Benedict has a ShapeWays page, with 3D printed capsule bases:

Also you could check WGTCenter webstore:

Which problem and what was the solution? Shipping costs from Peluso are like close to 50 EUR minimum.  Capsules from Maiku or 3U Audio come with some mounts, but usually the posts are little bit short.

Which problem and what was the solution?

The problem that I couldn't find the right mounts.
I ordered a batch of them from a capsule manufacturer.
By the way: a price of $14.99 and even $9.99 is ridiculous!

..... what was the solution?....
I would reccomend as a solution: evilbay.  Occasionally you can buy there such a capsule-holder:

for only € 4,50:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/RECORDING-TOOLS-MCU-01-USB-Grossmembranmikrofon-mit-Spinne-und-Schwenkarm-Studio-/132843498987?hash=item1eee16edeb%3Ag%3A1woAAOSworhb3gYR&nma=true&si=Aj7LqSuc1dSTRRBWseF%252BMhMvUPY%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

And yes, the capsule itself, the mic-body, the electronics etc. are for free.....

I purchased a couple of Tom Benedict's 'Shapeways' K67 mounts linked to in post  #4 above..... Very reasonably priced and  quick delivery from Holland...They work very well.

I then went one stage further and designed my own version for a simple 34mm 'end address' project.....( files here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3085428   )
Again, not too expensive and it worked well..

There's a photo of both actual mounts in use at the top of my project note sketches here: http://www.jp137.com/lts/LDCX2.notes.pdf

3D printing is probably not the answer for large volumes of course, but for small quantities - and especially individual projects -  it can be a simple way of creating what you need  quite cheaply...
