Finished Pultec EQP-1A clone with Cayocosta layout

I just wanted to share some pictures of my Pultec EPQ-1A clone (well, actually I built two, a stereo-pair, but here's just one of them). The main idea was to stay as close as possible to the original Pultec, technically, as well as cosmetically, without exceeding the cost of €1000/each. Here are some side notes. Will be happy to answere any questions:

- layout by Cayocosta, RecProAudio (thanks Ron!)
- faceplate by Frank Röllen (thanks Frank!)
- original NOS RCA tubes
- chasis painted in Hammerslag (3U enclosure by Par-Metal)
- high-end carbon comp resistors
- high-end Sprague Atom filter caps
- TAD paper-in-oil coupling caps
- original un-faceted jewel pilot light from Duck's Deluxe (when it comes to details, you know...)
- original Dakaware knobs from Don-Audio
- original Triad HS56 input transformer
- interstage and output are Sowter
- Hammond CAX370 power transformer for European 230V

How they sound? Well, what can I say... they sound just fantastic! Probably the best EQ you can get at the moment  ;D
They are also very very quiet, no hum or noise or whatsoever. They sound just like NOS Pultecs from the fifties!

A work of art! What is the wire you used for the input and output?

It's solid cloth wire from Tube Depot: http://www.tubedepot.com/cw-20-sld.html

But the 20 Ga. I used is way too thick, doesn't bend so easy so it's harder to make a neat wiring. Very solid though...
Nevertheless, if you ever make a clone yourself, I would suggest a thinner puch-back wire.

Btw, anyone building a Pultec clone right now, there are now two original NOS Chicago PSC-55 power transformers for sale on ebay!! Too bad I never had the chance to come across one of these when I was building my clones...

Someone asked me a question about the Pultec enclosure that I used for my project and I thought it'd be worth sharing the answere with everyone else:

Hi,
I'm looking after the same chassis for my new pultec that you choosed.
I know it come from par-metal but I'd like to know how much it cost with shipping and customs fee?
I'm in belgium and the last time I ordered in USA my package stayed a long time in customs and cost me a lot.

Or maybe there is a seller's in EU?
Wich model do you choose?

It's the Par Metal 14-19053G enclosure. I ordered it without any finish (so blank alluminium) and without a faceplate.
The enclosure was €57
Shipping from US to Belgium was €42
I don't remember about the taxes, but I guess it was not more than €30

Then, the black front panel I got from Frank Röllen, a German guy how does custom engraved front panels. You can just ask him for a Pultec frontpanel that suits a Par Metal enclosure and he'll know just what to do. He's a real pro! One Pultec front panel should be around €157 I think, not cheap, but totally worth the money if you want the original looks.
