I have an old version of SE amp design software somewhere . Whats quite nice is theres a calculator that allows you to design a single ended output stage ,choosing valve and transformer from a list , it does all the maths for you . Its a bit of a shame the software has become unusable on modern computers .
It seems like a big ask to program a computer to take over the job of audio transformer designer , how do you put years of accumulated knowledge and insight into code . I wouldnt have the first clue
Maybe theres some kind of modular approach possible with various design tools that do exist , for instance combining software by several different authors to do the calculations/sims , and embedding it all onto a web page , you walk in start filling out relevant data gradually you whittle your coil winding arrangement down to a given number of layers of x of turns per layer including screen/insulation material where applicable on what ever core you want .Is there a way of tying in various existing software components into something more coherent for audio transformer design ?
