G.TEN 500 series graphic eq
« on: May 05, 2019, 03:52:22 AM »
Hello groupdiy'ers!
I'm happy to announce:

Garash G.TEN - ten band graphic equalizer in 500 series format.
Great sounding and easy to set eq with all important music frequency points.
It’s great for shaping drums, guitars or any other sources where you need great sound and fast setup.

Schematic was LTspice emulated and carefully tuned. Eq principle is based on ic gyrator filters. Eq is proportional-Q (wider Q on low boost/cut and narrower Q on high boost/cut). Such eq principle became especially popular from the mid of 70s when the famous console module was invented by Al Davis. You know what module it is :P

G.TEN is input balanced and output balanced with true relay bypass and led indicator (red - bypass, green - eq active).
The design includes the option to select the output stage:
- opamp driver + that1646 differential output line driver
- discrete opamp (any 2520 style DOA) output driver + 2503 output transformer
So you get “more clean” output or “a little bit more coloured” output.

G.TEN will be available as diy kit with a full set of all components necessary for its assembly*.
*additional component list:
- that1246 input buffer
- dual opamp (OPA2604 / LME49720 recommended)
- output parts, depends on your output option selection(OPA604 + that1646 or DOA + 2503 trx)

Now we are preparing for second batch. First 20pcs was sold during a month
.

The pictures above show a working prototype with an 3mm aluminum panel and letters by laser engraving (which makes the letters are not very readable). In the serial version, the panel will also be aluminum but with letters made by the principle of metallographic (which makes the letters much more readable).

Feel free to ask and comment.  If you have an interest - PM.
Also kit is available through our distributor:

I'd be interested in 2 kits.
Can't figure out how to pre-order. Not on Facebook.

Hi,
I did not post price here as that's not a white/blck market. I think it's correct.
PM send.

G.TEN received! One question. I will be using the B output option with 2520 & 2503 output transformer. I noticed that there were 2 - .1uf ceramic capacitors above the dip8 that 1246 socket. I believe the build manual says to leave these off board. Just want to confirm that I should remove them, or if it is ok to leave in circuit? Below is picture with circled components in question.
Thanks again Igor!

Hi! Congrats!
In a such configuration you should install 0.1u near 1246 and do not install them near 1646. Like it showed on page 27 (I've added additional image, see attached).
One more comment - on page 43 there is a schematic for wiring 2503 as 1:2. There is a mistake - that's necessary to ground only one unused wire (ORG or YEL), NOT both. If you will connect both you will get a short circuit at one secondary (that's safe for transformer) and you will read -6db instead of +6dB trx gain.

Sounds awesome! Ruler flat engaged. Looking forward to getting a couple more to sit on snare and bass drum tracks.
