Hi Everyone,
I've just completed a single ez1290 and I've got a smoking resistor. it's the 12 ohm 1 watt r56.
I was wondering if someone could give me a voltage reading across it?

I've got a 10 ohm and 2.2 (both 1 watt) wired in series cause I didn't have a 12 ohm.

From 23.9 volt supply i get a 2 volt drop across the 2.2 ohm and a 9 volt drop across the 10 ohm. These figures seem high to me, and it's apparent why they are smoking:
P= V^2/R = 81/10 = 8 watts. which is much higher than the rated power dissapation.

Could someone give me a reading?

Thanks so much!!

you should post this in the big 1290 thread cause i think many people have subscribed that thread and are willing to respond.

Double checked my E Caps, all look good, it's probably something simple, a voltage reading would get me on the right track though.

I'll post on the other thread and see what happens, thanks for the suggestion!

There was an internal short in some shielded wire, problem solved. Mods can delete the thread, don't want to waste space
