Hi I like to make preamp for bass guitar. I make G9 and the sound is amazing. Actually I know that the most known musicans play with a pultec EQ. When I see this two schemes (from gyraf's site) I see that I can use g9 and where is LPF I can insert passive EQ from pultec.

Is this good idea or not ?
Thanks :)

This possible combination has been around before IIRIC. Dunno exactly what the outcome was - I thought something like: just keep them separate, more universal.

Note that replacing the LPF by the whole Pultec-EQ-section makes your total amount of gain drop quite a bit. (I forgot, 12dB ? 18dB ?)

Pultec stage loss is 18-20dB.

There's no easy/cheap way of getting this - you will need a "complete" G9 input AND output stage before the eq- you can't insert the pultec stage anywhere inside the G9 circuit, as it takes a very low source impedance to drive the eq stage. And you'd still need makeup-gain after the pultec circuit..

So you're better off by simply making two units - a G9 and a Pultec

So building only the EQ part of the Pultec and feeding that into the line input of the G9 is a no go...?

Looking at both the G9 and the Pultec schematics I thought that it should be possible.
For example, I want to build a stereo Pultec EQ and use the G9 as gain make up stage (skipping the low cut and some I guess).

No, no that's not what I mean- that should work fine! The thing is that you cannot insert the eq section inside the G9 circuit, trying to save parts..

No prob in e.g. G9(ch.1)->Filter->G9(ch.2)

Thank you for your answer.
Tell me something differend for pultec input for instrument ?

Some booster like this ?

The idea is to use pulteq EQ in bass preamp.

I have another question. What about pultec schematic without tubes. I men this version:

Thanks :)

There are a few threads about a solid state make up gain for the Pultec
Do a quick search on
Pultec solid state
