Does somebody knows where can I find in europe an assembled cable,
7 pin male to female, about 5-10mt long?

or if it's possible to use a Cat.5e ftp cable?

Thanks.

Thomann also sells 7 pin Neutrik connectors http://www.thomann.de/be/7-pol_xlr_plugs.html . Anybody used these for mic bodies?

I actually used both the thomann cable and the neutrik 7 pin connectors they sell for my g7 build. I havent fired it up yet, but it should work fine. And it looks fine to me!

Ok I have been searching all over the place, not only here, and since I have never wired a tube mic cable, I am unsure about how to do it. I can see there are different gauges of wire and different colors. Is there a chart or diagram, web site, that can help me out? I have the amphenol cable ends and need to know which wire goes where? TIA

HI  marktokach

did you look at this?

google=>"mogami"=>"bulk cable"=>"tube microphone cable" :

http://www.mogamicable.com/Bulk/micr_cables/tubemic_cab/tubemicc.html

here you are:

bigger gauges (blue and green) are for heaters (higher current)
orange and white are for signal (OFC medium conductor)
red and purple are for HT and bias (thinner conductor, highest insulation for high voltage)

;)

I am pretty sure this right; (sorry for noob question) Pin 1 is ground. I think I need to jumper a wire from it to the braid. I am using an Amphenol 7 pin circular cable end connector.

http://www.amphenol.de/downloads/40_c091_abd_e.pdfed sheild. Or is it somehow grounded already with this connector?  ???

Just getting around to finishing my G7 mics. I bought the amphenol connectors. The female one is more flush mount than the male one which sticks out a bit. It asks for the female to be on the power supply. Can I switch the female to the mic, and the male to the ps instead so it's more flush without any problems? TIA.
