Say, could you tell us where you got those VU meters? They're nice and small and awfully cute. Thanks, DW.
These vu meters brand is Anders, you can buy them from Radiospares or from Farnell. The type is C360VU. There's no rectifier inside and no light too. You'll have to do this !
But I agree they're really nice... and cheap !!!

For the lighting I used led and done this stupid thing :
COMP ON = Yellow , COMP OFF = Red
I like the "Dont let harman run your company" on the right side.

Impressive work! Can we get any shots of the inside?
/J
That's done !!!

That is a very nice DIY :thumb:

Why stupid? I think this idea is cool :)

Stupid is not the good word... It's always surprising me to see different colors on the vu meters, but it is really easy to see what's on or off...
So stupid isn't the good word, surprising is closer to what I feel

Very cool. Thanks for the info on the VU meters. Your different color LED's are not stupid. They're brilliant. It's little stuff like this which makes DIY so cool. DW.

No crosstalk at all?
I wanted to really do a serious check before answering you, that's the reason why I've been so long:
NO CROSSTALK !
At least, if there's some crasstalk it's under the noise floor, so it's impossible to hear it or to see it with a spectrum analyser...

I tryed to have the maximum distances between the transfos and I put a mu metal shield on them... That's one part of the reason, the other is maybe in the way I build the power supply. I left on the boards all the regulators and I build a separate power supply with a diode bridge and two 10000µF caps. So DC current in and separate regulation on each board...

Nothing wrong with that, actually very usable.
Those 'retro-styled' Marantz fourtrackers did this as well,
green illum.= play, red illum.= record and that was really of use.

And a nice job you did on that 8-channel box :thumb:

I didn't know this Marantz fourtracker... But I agree, even if it's still surprising me when I see them, those 2 colored vu meters are really an easy way to know what's on or off, especially on my design. The switches are so close that it's difficult sometimes to see their position... I put them to get with all the switches up : Slam mode Off-Vu GR-Comp ON. I thought and I was right, it will be easy to have the more common setup without looking at the Front plate.

Bump for insanity. Pics on first page. WOW, this is inspiring, and terrifying at the same time. If I tried something like this they would probably commit me.

And I though dualie 1176 was a big project. This could handle all the inserts on my mixer!
