A PLS 1 is a 2 rack unit 8x4 MIDI programable switching matrix that uses relays. There are plenty around second hand for not too much money. If you really wanted to get into it you could get one and pull all the relays and replace them with gold contact relays. You set up preset banks which you can recall via MIDI. I have used them on tour for guitarists with big rigs to switch pedals in and out of circuit. Perhaps if you swapped out the relays and sockets you could make it balanced, or just run channels in parallel to balance your lines
