what are those things sticking out of the power cable I assume they are related to active shielding.

That's very well said.  Many times this thought has crossed my mind and this is the first time I've actually been able to read it in a way that makes most sense .

Pressing for information from my insiders, I finally got them to admit there's a Tardigrade suspended in a drop of heavy water at the center of the active shielding box.  One only need supply the spores, or in this case, 10k in sequentially marked 100 dollar bills to activate the system.
