I have a pair of ADM 1540 eq's that I'm about to recap and I have 10 green BP Nichicon ES at home that I thought about putting in there in place of the old polar ones, is there a problem with this, replacing polars in the signal path with bi-polars?

Heh, think I can answer this one my self after opening the case up to have a closer look, there are BP's in there already. So I guess I'm pretty safe putting bi-polars in there.

But as a general question, is it safe to change polars against bi-polars in signal paths?

In short, "yes." In fact, when replacing polarized electrolytic or tantalum capacitors with non-polar film caps (or even bi-polar electrolytics) some advantage is gained. The disadvantage is usually space/size.

Ok, thanx!

The other disadvantage is cost, although tantalums are not cheap either...I just hate them because they either explode or short out!
