Has any one ever used one of these I cant find much info .
Is it electret or dose it have the 414 capsule ?
It sounds nice and full .

If I remember the model correctly, it was meant to be a sort of 'live' 414, cardioid only, for drums, cabinets, overhead, etc, built into a robust body. I believe it is a true condenser, and the diaphragm is based on the 414.

Documentation (including service docs) can be found at http://www.akg-acoustics.com/site/products/powerslave,id,814,pid,814,nodeid,2,_language,EN.html

ugliest mic Ive ever seen :green:

But they sound great
kinda like a Bigger Sm7
huge low end
not boxy at all

someday Ill stuff a discreet circut and a transformer in there

I had one back in the days. It's not bad. But.. it's an electret mic - if you have the full version of their manual it says "backplate condenser transducer prepolarized". Check the Coutant link in post #4, there you can see it.

Never seen that mic before, but it's so strange looking that I would like to have one.
