Hi, all.
Totally new to this forum. But I thought if any one has an answer to my question, it might be here.
And my apologies if this question belongs somewhere else in this forum. If so, if you could direct me to where it should properly go, that would be great.
So ...
I am looking at buying a used Alesis GT AM61 microphone, with its own power, in its proper metal carrying case, a ring-mount holder, and a shock-mount holder. All of these are the items found in the case as originally sold. The problem, however, is that the shock-mount is unusable in its present condition.
The shock-mount, with a rather unique design, has an inner metal ring kept in place and suspended within an outer metal ring by four small rubber bands. (See attachment) I'm assuming that the way the rubber bands sit, they also offer resistance against the mic body, thus preventing it from slipping out. Unfortunately, those rubber bands are all missing, thus rendering the shock-mount useless. I could see if one of the bands was missing, due to wear or whatever, maybe even two. But having all four missing suggests to me that someone intentionally cut them. wth?
Now, by the nature of the way the shock-mount is constructed, it doesn't look like there is any way to install new rubber bands even if there were any to be had. It looks to me like the rubber bands could only have been installed at the factory during assembly. Am I wrong about this? Or is there some trick to installing new rubber bands on this particular shock-mount? And if that is possible, are there in fact replacement rubber bands to be had? And if so, where?
Now, if none of that is possible, can anyone recommend an alternative shock-mount that would properly hold an Alesis AM 61microphone?
Thank you.
