Hey guys,

Does anyone have any info on what this is, or any pinouts?

Here's some pics:

It appears to have been some type of record device, possibly for a tape machine, but it has a compressor built in as well.  I bought 2 of these years ago, and never found any info.  Was hoping to wire them up in a rack and use them in some way.

Anything at all would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Sig

'486B Operational Intercom Amplifier'

Seems to be some kind of balancing unit for connecting an intercom or other internal comms system to an outside telephone line?

I think 'REC' is short for 'receive', rather than 'record' in this case. Probably not much use for anything else.

Hmmmm, but it does have a compressor in the circuit.  Could sound neat, and it is fully balanced in and out with trafos.

Kinda hard to wire it up without a pinout though...is there any contact for the old Altec?  I don't imagine the new guys (Altec Lansing) have any info...
