I have recently acquired an original model - not B nor C - the one with the selector switches on the electronics. I'm curious if it's possible to use B or C electronics with this machine. Anyone know? Seems that it should work. Thanks.

If you mean the Source/Repro/SelSync selector switches, all three models had them on the electronics chassis -- the C used pushbutton "winkie" switches, the no-suffix and the B used lever switches.

If I recall correctly, you can use original and B series electronics interchangeably, but the C had different heads, which needed a different transformer in the electronics, so they weren't interchangeable. Someone with more Ampex experience will know more certainly than I do.
