I moded a pair of 2001's about 4 months ago and have used them several times since, and now I am having heater problems.

I built the two mics to run off one power supply, with a 26v 600ma transformer and I noticed when I plug both mics in now I loose both the mics. This didn't start happening till this week. I can run either one by itself no problem, but when I plug them both in the heaters cool down. Am I pulling too many amps from the power supply? I checked it out fearing caps and or resistors may have gone south, but they all checked out. I also ran the PS unloaded and voltages checked out. Next I'm gonna check the voltages with the mics hooked up. I'm thinking the problem, is either in the Xfmr or the tubes. Any ideas?

I built a Royer type supply. I ended up using a good 2 Amp 25V transformer. The heater in one tube I used needs 300ma. The 5840 is a 150ma fil.

I tried a 1 amp transformer it ran very hot.
